Knowledge and performance: the lifeblood of Atomic. We will always want to know, and hope you will too, how our hardware works and how we can get the most out of it.

Craig’s overclocking retrospective concluded this month, and we’ve included both parts of his feature to help you trace the lineage of the humble 8088 through to today’s Core2 Quad, and every last piece of silicon in between.

That takes us from the past to the present of computing, so if you want to know more about where the computer is heading, you’ll want to check out our feature on Silicon Photonics. It’s a brave new world we can’t wait to meet.

On the gaming front this week we’ve got secrets from the world of the RPG developer; surprising news regarding Duke “MIA” Nukem; and info on the sequel to a personal favourite game of mine -- Guitar Hero.

Remember: our forums are there for you, so hit us with your thoughts!

Rock out this weekend; but don’t rock so hard that you hurt yourself.

-DAVE.
