Tried-and-tested technology for backing up and restoring your entire drive
We all know that backing up our data is important. Most of us select the
files and folders that we deem most important to our work and set up an
automatic backup schedule so that these files are stored on our server at the
end of every day or working week. However, what happens if your entire system
goes down? You then need to spend hours finding your original installation CDs,
re-installing your software, setting up and configuring the installed software
and then finding that your preferences, fonts and other system files are
missing. Did you remember to back up purchased fonts? Probably not.
One solution is to forget about backing up key and important data and backup
your entire drive. If you choose to backup using an incremental or differential
option, only the files you’ve amended since the last backup, will be backed up.
Therefore you could run a full drive backup at the end of every working day and,
if you experience a major system crash, simply restore the backed up drive,
along with your installed software, work, fonts, preferences and more.
Norton Ghost 12 is the latest version of the drive backup software that
enables you to take a snapshot of your current system and then restore that to a
previous state, at a later date. For instance, backup your drive, install
software, test, find it affects the performance of your system, then quickly use
Ghost 12 to revert back to a previous state, without having to bother sorting
out and uninstalling the software from your system.
